Before I created “Still Life | Tomatoes No. 2", I played around with using this artful paper, created by @marymooneyart for @elizsuzann, which was wrapped around the beautiful hand crafted clothing from my recent purchase. This exquisite paper is meant to be kept, to be appreciated, and to be re-used however you may fancy. I’m choosing to use it as a background in my photography.
Tomatoes No. 2Today's haul of tomatoes from B&B Farms CSA. Heirlooms, cherries and sun golds. I was actually a bit giddy picking these adorable little beauties and I had to photograph them before devouring them. They were just so darn cute. If you can call tomatoes cute.
Peaches and GreenThis is it. This is all that my peach tree was able to bear this year, thanks to an early warm spell, followed by below freezing temperatures that sadly curtailed a bountiful harvest. I felt that I should at least pay homage to the hearty survivors… the spring blossoms protected by the branch canopy that saved them from the frost. Although not quite ripe, I needed to pick them now, or I would have none, as the backyard critters have started to feast.
Made in the CSA | Week 4Just a tad behind on posting for my CSA series, I’ll be working up a blog post for weeks 1-4 shortly. Today’s bounty included carrots, beets, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, and kale. Farming has been a bit challenging for @bbfarmscsa here in South Jersey because the rain just won’t seem to stop. It’s seems that every few days, we are experiencing storms that bring torrents of rain (7” inches yesterday). Maybe we should all be building arks ☺. Today was definitely a ‘wear your wellies day’ in the fields. Most of the produce at the farm is presented on tables in the barn for personal selection of mix and match options. Some produce, such as peas and beans are out in the fields for the picking. Flowers and herbs are also available as part of the weekly share. It feels good to get a little dirty out there in the fields.Now that I have photographed this week’s haul of veggies and flowers, it’s time now to clean and prep for our meals this week. I also picked up a couple of Cycle Farms chickens at the farm for the rotisserie. Now I’m just hoping that it doesn’t rain again tonight.
